NETWORK/DESKTOP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

LARA-TECH LIMITED, a fast paced private technology company, requires a full-time Network Administrator for servicing clients in the Ottawa area. This position requires an individual that projects an image of excellence, expertise and confidence. This individual must be self-motivated, well organized and focused.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the day-to-day operation of networks: adds users, monitor user accounts, provide user training and technical support for user problems.

Plan and implement upgrades to networks; install and configure software and hardware.

Setup and support desktop PCs for end users (Win2k, WinXP, Vista)

Perform routine maintenance on networks.

Perform back-ups and implement procedures for disaster recovery where required.

Monitor usage, capacity, and performance of networks; liaise with users and/or vendors to address problems and changes in requirements.

Track and assess data processing requirements to project future demand for additional storage, terminals, printers, modems, servers, and the like.

Security, including Firewalls, VPNs, Virus, DNS.

Knowledge of operating systems (i.e., Windows, UNIX, Linux), networking standards and protocols (i.e., TCP/IP, X.25, SNMP).

MS Small Business Server, SQL, Exchange

Symantec Backup Exec, understand different types of backup jobs

Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) mandatory

Must have good communication skills and interpersonal skills

Must have strong analytical capability

Must be able to work independently
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
3 year college diploma, in Computer Science or equivalent, and 3-5 years (minimum) experience in network administration.
